Rise Up Youth Employment Program
The Rise Up Youth Employment Program started as a project offered to Phoenix Human Services Association participants in November 2015, when a gap in individual employment services aimed at helping youth aged 15-25 was recognized. At the time, youth employment services in Victoria were comprised of in-class learning and a job coaching component. However, many youth were not comfortable learning in a classroom and needed more individualized support. Rise Up Youth was created to help youth who experience barriers to employment by serving youth in an outreach capacity with one-to-one support.
Today, Rise Up Youth continues to thrive as a highly utilized community service that is open to all youth in the Greater Victoria Area. The program continues to grow and serve more youth each year. One step taken this year to increase accessibility of the program was the creation of a new website www.RiseUpYouth.ca. The new website details the program in more depth and offers an application form for self-referral.
